“Closer than Ever is hands down one of the best second-chance romances I’ve read because while it’s a slow burn, the pacing is absolutely perfect, the dialogue is effortless, and the story is swoon-worthy. Anna and Hayley are relatable and captivating characters whose emotional and physical journeys are engaging and filled with so much growth for both characters. Their story is filled with longing, honesty, vulnerability, and bravery and proves that it’s never too late for a second chance.” – Review

The Light in You

Is falling for your yoga teacher ever a good idea?

Yoga teacher Angela Forbes has fulfilled her dream of opening her very own studio, Heart Yoga, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland. Passionate and principled, she believes in yoga and wants to make a difference. Unfortunately, her studio is hanging by a thread after a slow start. She doesn’t have time for love, and isn’t attachment the root of all suffering anyway?

Life isn’t going the way Emily Mackenzie had planned. She’s lost her high-powered corporate job and isn’t coping well. She’s spent her twenties sacrificing her personal life for her career and now she has nothing to show for it. Stressed and struggling, she might just be at her rock bottom. When Emily joins Heart Yoga she finds a lot more than just a good stretch.

Helping each other comes naturally to them. As Emily gets back on her feet is it wise for her to risk getting involved with someone who’s not looking for love?

Themes and tropes: student-teacher, mental health, self-discovery, slow-burn, sports/yoga.

“So knowing this is a new writer and this only being her second book, has blown me away. This was a emotional story of love with a unbelievable belief in peace. I fell in love with Emily as a I have been in her shoes and I just want to give her a permanent hug. It is so hard to pull yourself up when you have so much pulling you down. Still she tries to find a sense of herself and tries Yoga. In comes Angela as the owner who is struggling with a new business and trying to maintain her peace and calm nature to also teach. The connection between them is instant. Now they need to overcome some hurdles to find the love they both deserve. This was written so well and with such heart and dignity. The way Angela was teaching her Yoga classes was explained so in depth, I think I learned a lot about Yoga myself and definitely will look into it. Life is not always easy but we must keep trying to find the peace and love we all need. Great Job. Definitely checking out Lisa Elliot’s first book.” – Review
